Hi, I'm Rachel. I work for Acuity. I'm in the Litigation and Disputes team. I work as a Solicitor. We offer a full commercial legal offering to our clients from employment, commercial real estate and obviously disputes.
The case in question was a shareholders dispute. We worked for the claimant and there were two defendants, so there were three different legal teams involved. The team from Acuity - there's predominantly four of us, but a few extra people helped with things like the bundling and coming to trial.
We found TrialView particularly useful in providing the client with updates because we were able, during the bundling process, we were uploading documents to the platform and we were able to share this progress with the client by collating the documents into the index, which TrialView does, and sharing that with the client. And then he was able to give his input on what documents he wanted added or removed from the bundle.
We found using a subscription model for TrialView really useful because it allowed us to plan for the costs that were involved and it allowed us to save time and costs in terms of own preparation of the bundles and the trial. During the trial the evidence presentation tool helped the hearing flow a lot better than usual because the council was able to refer to a document and then that document would just appear on the screens in front of everyone.
So one of Acuity's key goals going forward is staying at the forefront of AI and technology, and TrialView has really allowed us to do that because it uses innovative technology such as the bundling process... which was a lot easier using the platform because it was automated and you were able to just generate the bundle quickly with hyperlinks and page numbers.
I believe using TrialView from an early stage offered us an advantage over other legal teams because it allowed us to add the documents to the TrialView platform as early as possible, which meant there's less opportunities for documents to be lost or misfiled. And it allowed us to see everything in one place, which then helped us develop our arguments in the case and the strengths and weaknesses of the case. And it allowed us to look for any gaps of information.
